Our specialists were proud to add their expertise in luxury accessible washroom fittings to the renovation of the jaw-dropping Grantley Hall mansion in Ripon, north of England.
But what makes this destination hotel and wellness retreat project so special for those looking for hotel bathroom design inspiration?
We asked the Fitzroy of London design team to identify the must-see elements of this superb new attraction…
1, An Unapologetically Opulent History
Grantley Hall, a magnificent Palladian-style Relais & Chateaux property and part of the Pride of Britain Hotels portfolio, carries the date ‘1680’ on its crest for a reason: its eventful story stretches from completion just before the reign of Queen Anne across multiple decades and includes visits from Royalty as well as time spent as a grand residence, use during World War II as a convalescent home for soldiers and time spend as a training college.
Three generations of the Skyes family, current owners, were involved in years of renovation work at Grantley Hall.
2, A Bespoke Ethos…in Every Detail
Conscious that only the most uncompromising approach to luxury interior design would truly do justice to the celebrated history of this grand mansion, the current day hotel and wellness retreat is full of individual, high-end design features such as – taking the bedrooms for example – marble fireplaces and furniture in fitting with the period of the building. A Presidential Suite is accessed via a rooftop atrium and private hallway while a 100sq metres Royal Suite boasts a roll top bath overlooking parkland.
Meanwhile the bathrooms, with their marble-clad finish and typically sumptuous aesthetic, had to work in harmony with this belief in premium, unique details. That’s why Ripon Interiors worked with Fitzroy of London to select polished nickel accessible products custom-designed to match the Samuel Heath Style Moderne fittings from their Kirkman Collection.
3, World-Class Features
Grantley Hall offers 47 bedrooms and suites in total as well as four restaurants, including the Michelin-starred Shaun Rankin at Grantley Hall, in addition to the Three Graces Spa and a luxury gym. Alfresco dining options are now available too.
Couples holding their wedding at the venue have access to a range of picture postcard interior and exterior settings along with access to a team of chefs and an expert Sommelier.
4, A Location Fit for Royalty
Found in the stunning Yorkshire Dales, five miles to the west of Ripon and just 10 miles from Harrogate’s world-famous town centre and tea rooms, the hotel is also an ideal base to explore Yorkshire Dales National Park and its waterfall walks, Pennine Way trail across wild lands and much more.
It’s no wonder Visit England makes the point that the Dales often appear on the big screen with famous appearances including Calendar Girls and the Harry Potter series. The tourism body adds that “the hills are alive with the sound of wildlife – woodpeckers, cuckoos, and wood warblers” and “In August heather covers the moorland like a purple carpet” to help the imagination build a picture of this very special, sensory location.
