Billed as one of Mayfair’s best kept secrets, Fitzroy of London’s specialists were deeply intrigued by the design brief for our recent work on the Mimi Mei Fair Chinese fine dining emporium.
Situated within a three-storey Georgian townhouse and divided into a sophisticated and intimate series of rooms, each with its own design identity, Mimi Mei Fair is the imagined residence of Empress Mimi, keeper of the most revered Chinese culinary secrets.
Oriental glamour, reimagined
Conceived by founder Samyukta Nair in conjunction with designer Tom Strother of Fabled Studio, the interior draws inspiration from the Forbidden Palace of Beijing, ancient folklore tales and the whimsical era of 1920s Shanghai.
From the opulent Art Deco-style booths to the moody basement ‘Moon Bar’, Mimi Mei Fair offers a dining experience for all of the senses, offering patrons the chance to go on a journey from old-fashioned oriental glamour to modern day eclecticism – and no stone has been left unturned, with bespoke washrooms on each floor reflecting the same impeccable taste and attention to detail at every turn.
As with the intimate dining spaces, each washroom space within this extraordinary venue has a character all its own. The challenge for our team was not only to design inclusive washroom spaces to dovetail seamlessly with the wider décor and design, but to provide solutions that would work effortlessly across a range of eclectic interior schemes.
Our Portland collection proved to be the perfect choice for Mimi Mei Fair. Supplied by Westone Bathrooms, this timeless collection is inspired by the elegance of the Edwardian era and crafted in solid brass for a truly distinctive look and feel.
The clean lines and softly rounded silhouettes of the Portland range perfectly complement the rich, opulent surroundings of Mimi Mei Fair’s interiors, delivering a stylish and inclusive experience for all restaurant patrons, ensuring complete comfort, dignity and peace of mind.
